PSI FOCUSES ON MEDITERRANEAN SECURITY

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S.-led Proliferation Security Initiative hasrenewed its effort to secure the Mediterranean Sea from weapons of massdestruction. PSI has completed a multinational naval exercise termed "BlueAction-2005" to demonstrate the skills and interoperability of severalcountries to detect, track and interdict a suspected WMD shipment throughthe western Mediterranean. The maneuvers were conducted in June 2005 andhosted by Spain in the first air exercise by PSI.
