U.S. PLAYS DOWN ISRAELI AID ON KATRINA

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has played down Israeli participationin the international aid effort for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Officials said the Bush administration delayed accepting Israel'simmediate offer to help the hurricane victims. They said the administrationwas concerned that such a move would deter Arab and Islamic countries fromoffering assistance.
