Iraq Requests Arms, Communications

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iraq has requested hundreds of millions of dollars
worth of U.S. light weapons and communications.
The Bush administration has approved an Iraqi request for more than $600
million worth of rifles, carbines, grenade launchers, tactical
communications and shelters. Officials said the proposed sale would bolster
the capability of the Iraq Army in both counter-insurgency and conventional
missions.
