Centcom Builds Mideast Alliances

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. military has sought to build its alliances
with the Middle East to help offset Iran.
The U.S. military's Central Command has been working with a range of
allies in the Middle East to facilitate power projection in wake of the
American troop withdrawal from Iraq in December 2011. Centcom has cited at
least two successes in relationships with Jordan and the United Arab
Emirates, which contributed forces to the overthrow of Libyan Col. Moammar
Khaddafy.
