Syrian Militia Emerges As Contender
NICOSIA [MENL] -- More than a year after the revolt against President Bashar
Assad, a Sunni militia has emerged as a powerbroker in the opposition.
Opposition sources has identified Al Farouq Battalion as a leading rebel
force in central Syria. They said Al Farouq has refused to follow orders by
the Free Syrian Army and sought to dominate the province of Homs,
deemed a stronghold of the Sunni rebellion.
