AQIM Ally Upgrades Libyan SAMs

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- An Al Qaida ally was said to have been upgrading
surface-to-air missiles smuggled from Libya.
The CIA has been alerted to intelligence that an ally of Al Qaida
Organization in the Islamic Maghreb received and refurbished 800 SA-7 and
other shoulder-fired air defense systems from Russia. The AQIM ally was
identified as Boko Haram, which operates in Africa's Sahel region and was
obtaining help from Egyptian Army personnel.
