MB Seeks To Pardon Islamic Insurgents

CAIRO [MENL] -- The Islamist-controlled parliament has been drafting
legislation for a pardon of the Al Qaida-aligned insurgency movement in
Egypt.
Islamist sources said Islamist deputies were drafting a bill that would
pardon all Egyptians convicted of what was termed terrorism. They said the
legislation, debated in committee, was meant to win the release of the
leadership of the Al Qaida-aligned Gamiat Islamiya and Jihad, which
conducted numerous attacks on police and civilians in the 1980s and 1990s.
