Russia Seeks Strategic Ties With Israel
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Russia has sought to recruit Israel for a strategic
alliance in the Middle East, a report said.
The Institute for National Security Studies asserted that President
Vladimir Putin has been wooing Israel to establish a strategic alliance with
Moscow. The report, authored by research fellow Zvi Magen, said Moscow was
looking to Israel and other Western-aligned states in the Mediterranean to
counter the rising power of Islamic states, particularly Turkey.
