Iran Deploys Upgraded Russian Sub

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Iran has reported the deployment of an upgraded
Russian-origin submarine in the Gulf.
Officials said the Iranian Defense Ministry has overseen the upgrade of
one of three Kilo-class submarines supplied by Russia 20 years ago. They
said the heavy submarine, Tareq-901, was returned to the Iranian Navy and
was operating in the Gulf.
