Lebanese Intel Official Assassinated

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Lebanon, seen as sliding into the civil war in Syria, has
been stunned by the assassination of a senior intelligence official.
Brig. Gen. Wissam Al Hassan was killed in a car bombing in Beirut on
Oct. 19. The killing of Al Hassan, identified as a leading Lebanese
intelligence official, was linked to his ties with elements that
were helping the Sunni revolt in neighboring Syria.
