Egypt Prepares Alternatives To U.S.
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Egypt's Islamist regime has been preparing alternatives
to its alliance with the United States, a report said.
The Foreign Policy Research Institute asserted that President Mohammed
Morsi has been negotiating for strategic defense cooperation and assistance
from U.S. adversaries. In a report, the institute cited efforts for
assistance from China and perhaps Iran to eventually replace the annual $1.6
billion in U.S. economic and military aid.
