Egypt, Jordan Deemed Major CIA Allies
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Egypt and Jordan played a major role in a secret CIA
program to capture and interrogate Al Qaida operatives, a report said.
The Open Society Foundations asserted that Egypt and Jordan worked with
the CIA for at least five years to track, arrest and interrogate Al Qaida
fighters from Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries. In a report, the
New York-based group said the two Arab League states tortured scores of
prisoners under CIA direction.
