Intel Chief Dominates Turkish Policy
ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey's pro-Islamist intelligence chief has been
determined to dominate the foreign policy of the NATO ally.
Analysts and officials agree that Hakan Fidan, director of the Turkish
National Intelligence Organization, was playing a central role in Ankara's
new pro-Islamist policy, particularly in neighboring Syria. They said Fidan,
a confidante of Prime Minister Recep Erdogan, has also become responsible
for liaison with neighboring Iran.
