IRAQ PREPARES TO TAKE OVER SOUTH

BAGHDAD [MENL] -- Iraq has been progressing with plans to assume securityresponsibility for the south. Officials said the Iraqi Army plans to begin security responsibilitiesover the southern provinces during the next few days. They said the Iraqimove would lead to the eventual withdrawal of Australian, British andJapanese forces.
