TURKEY SELECTS ALCATEL FOR SATELLITE

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has selected France's Alcatel for the procurementand launch of a telecommunications satellite. Alcatel Alenia Space has signed a turnkey contract with Turkishoperator Turksat AS for the construction and launch of the Turksat 3Asatellite. Executives said the Turksat 3A satellite would facilitatetelecommunication services as well as direct television broadcasts overEurope, Turkey and Central Asia.
