U.S. WATCHES ALGERIAN DEAL WITH RUSSIA

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has been closely watching Algeria'sreported arms deal with Russia. Officials said the State Department has sought to verify details of thereported Russian sale of major weapons platforms to the North African state.They said U.S. diplomats have raised the issue in talks with both Algerianand Russian counterparts.
