EGYPT JOINS U.S.-LED ANTI-WMD PROGRAM

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Egypt has joined a U.S.-led program to prevent thesmuggling of weapons of mass destruction. Officials said Egypt has decided to participate in a program to blockthe smuggling ofnuclear and other radioactive materials by sea. On June 22, Cairo signed anagreement that would bring two U.S. security programs to Egypt The programs were identified as Megaports and Container SecurityInitiative. Megaports has been administered by the National Nuclear SecurityAdministration and CSI was run by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
