FIGHTING IS SAID TO RESUME IN SOUTHERN SUDAN

CAIRO [MENL] -- The ceasefire in southern Sudan is said to have beenshattered. Sudanese opposition sources said the Khartoum regime launched an attackon rebel positions last week in the oil-producing region west of the NileRiver. The sources said three people were killed in what they described as amajor offensive by 1,500 members of a pro-government Islamic militia.
