TURKEY QUICKENS DECISION ON U.S. DEPLOYMENT

ANKARA [MENL] -- The government of Prime Minister Abdullah Gul hasaccelerated the pace of its decisions regarding cooperation with the UnitedStates in the expected war against Iraq. Officials said the Gul government has agreed in principle to double thenumber of U.S. troops deployed in Turkey. They said Ankara is also ready toapprove a draft accord on U.S. aid to Turkey that would include themodernization of military bases.
