ISRAEL'S NAVY UPGRADES SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS

TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel's navy has launched a project to upgrade thesurveillance systems for its surface vessel fleet to protect againstinsurgency threats.Industry sources said observation and surveillance systems that are morethan 10 years in operation would be modernized. They said the program wouldcost several million dollars and the effort would last several years.The program is meant to increase the navy's capability in detecting andintercepting insurgency attacks from the Mediterranean Sea.
