TURKEY MOVES INTO SECOND STAGE OF F-16C UPGRADE

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has entered the second stage of an upgrade projectfor the F-16.Officials said the project calls for the installation of advancedelectronic warfare systems in the F-16C Block 50 fighter aircraft. Turkeyhas 225 F-16 C and D models procured in the late 1980s.The Turkish project calls for the installation of the AN/ALQ-178[V]+airborne radar warning and jamming systems in up to 80 F-16s.
