ISRAEL OFFERS GROUND-BASED VERSION OF DERBY
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel has launched marketing of a ground-based versionof the advanced Derby beyond-visual range air-to-air missile in an effort tomatch a similar effort by the United States. Industry sources said the Derby surface-to-air missile concept has beentested and resulted in interest by several unidentified clients. The sourcessaid the Israeli state-owned Rafael, Israel Armament Development Authorityhas presented the concept as an alternative to the U.S. development of aground-launch version of the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile[AMRAAM]. Norway has been the first to deploy the ground-based AMRAAM.
