ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey's military has quietly warned the government thatits interests in northern Iraq could be threatened unless Ankara andWashington cooperate in the expected war against the regime of PresidentSaddam Hussein. Turkish Chief of Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok briefed Prime Minister AbdullahGul on the military's assessment of the expected war against Iraq. Thebriefing came in wake of parliament's rejection of the government requestfor U.S. troops in Turkey on Saturday and the subsequent refusal by Ankara'smilitary to allow U.S. officers to cross the border into Iraq.
