U.S. PLANS EXTENSIVE USE OF E-WEAPONS AGAINST IRAQ
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. military, in its first public discussion ofthe issue, said it plans to use a range of non-lethal and precision-targetsystems against Iraq, including newly-developed electronic weapons. Officials said the U.S. military plans to deploy precision-guidedweapons for up to 70 percent of its bombing attacks on Iraqi targets. Theysaid in areas where collateral damage is a concern the use of precisionweapons would increase to 90 percent. Low-level commanders wouldhave wide latitude in determining the lion's share of targets.
