U.S. GROUND WAR IN IRAQ PROCEEDS SLOWLY

NICOSIA [MENL] -- The United States has launched a cautious ground invasionof Iraq. Allied forces were heading toward Basra in the initial stage of a groundassault. The target of the U.S. and British forces appeared to be Iraqi oilfields in the region, dozens of which have already been set ablaze.
