TURKEY ALLOWS EXPANDED U.S. MILITARY PRESENCE

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has allowed the United States to establish anexpanded military presence near the Syrian border. Turkish officials said the U.S. military has employed the Incerlik airbase in southwestern Turkey for the transportation of troops to and fromIraq and Kuwait. The officials said military transports filled with Americansoldiers have been arriving at Incerlik from the Gulf region over the lastweek.
