U.S. WANTS INCREASED SECURITY AT OLYMPIC GAMES

ATHENS [MENL] -- The United States has pressed Greece to increase securitymeasures at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens as the two countries prepare toconduct a major security exercise. Greek officials said the Bush administration has pressed Athens toaccelerate security preparations for the Olympics amid a national electioncampaign in Greece. The officials said the administration has expressedconcern that the campaign will hamper the effort to improve security aroundOlympic facilities in wake of intelligence evidence that Al Qaida andrelated groups might be targeting Western teams.
