IRAQ USES ARMY FOR INTERNAL SECURITY
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iraq's interim government has decided to use itsnascent military for internal security. A report by the Washington Institute said the Iraqi government decisionto deploy the military against the insurgency movement reflected thebreakdown of security in the country. The institute said the best-trainedand best-equipped units of the army have been used in counter-insurgencyoperations in an effort to restore order for national elections scheduledfor Jan. 30, 2005.
