DESPITE FUNDS, U.S. INTEL NEEDS LINGUISTS
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. intelligence and law enforcement communitycontinues to be hampered by an inability to rapidly process Arabic and otherMiddle East languages required for operations against Al Qaida and alignedgroups. Officials said that despite increased funding, the intelligence and lawenforcement community remains short of linguists. They said the communityhas failed to monitor or process a huge amount of intercepts that involve AlQaida suspects.
