ISRAEL SEEKS TO FUND SUBS THROUGH U.S. AID
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel's Defense Ministry has been examining ways tofund the purchase of European-origin submarines through U.S. military aid. Defense Ministry officials and the Israel Navy officers have beenmeeting to discuss prospects for the use of the annual $2 billion inU.S. military aid to fund the purchase of advanced diesel submarines. U.S.law requires that at least 51 percent of any platform must be produced inthe United States to be eligible for aid under the Foreign MilitaryFinancing program.
