FRANCE SEEKS TO LEAD MAGHREB ALLIANCE

LONDON [MENL] -- France has proposed the establishment of a defense alliancewith three of its North African allies. The French proposal would form a defense partnership between theEuropean Union and Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. The alliance wouldinclude programs led by France for joint training, military procurement andguidance.
