U.S. COOL TO TURKISH APPEAL FOR JOINT VENTURES

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States appears cool to Turkey's offer forjoint military production as well as serving as a maintenance center forU.S. military platforms in Iraq. Turkish defense officials said Ankara's government has drafted a newprocurement policy meant to stress joint production in any militarycontract with the United States. They said the limitations set by the StateDepartment on the transfer of U.S. technology have harmed the prospect ofmajorweapons deals with Washington.
