ISRAEL'S SECURITY FENCE LACKS HI-TECH
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Despite the $1.7 billion price tag, Israel has failed toprocure advanced defense technology proposed for the security fence andbarrier project. Industry sources said that the Defense Ministry has not contracted forunmanned air vehicles or ground sensors that would increase reconnaissancecapability along the West Bank frontier. So far, the sources said, theproject has been largely confined to the actual fence, including concretewalls as high as five meters, short-range sensors and observation posts.
