UAE Firm Wins Naval Contract In Bahrain

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- A leading United Arab Emirates defense firm has won a
naval contract in Bahrain.
The UAE's Abu Dhabi Ship Building has been awarded a nearly $100 million
contract for the construction of four vessels for the Royal Bahrain Naval
Force. Executives said the contract called for the delivery of four naval
landing craft by 2011.
[On Nov. 13, the London-based Financial Times reported that BAE Systems
was negotiating to sell up to 24 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to Oman. The
newspaper estimated the deal at about $2.5 billion.]
