Israel Markets Security System After Mumbai

TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel has sought to market security technology in wake
of the Al Qaida-aligned attack on India.
A former senior official in Israel's intelligence community has been
offering equipment and techniques meant to foil the November 2008 Islamic
insurgency attack on luxury hotels and a Jewish community center in the
Indian city of Mumbai. The former Mossad deputy commander has focused on the
Escape Rescue System, meant for evacuation of people from high-rise
buildings.
"There is little doubt that in many scenarios, such as the recent events
in Mumbai, use of the Escape Rescue System by SWAT teams can provide
tactical advantage and surprise, while making feasible an otherwise
impossible assault on a building held by terrorists," [Res.] Maj. Gen.
Amiram Levine, who served as deputy chief of the Mossad, said.
