WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has imposed sanctions on commanders
of Iran's military.
The administration of President Barack Obama has designated two leading
Iranian military commanders for their role in human rights violations. The
State Department and Treasury Department have determined that Iranian Chief
of Staff Maj. Gen. Hassan Firouzabadi and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
deputy chief Gen. Abdullah Araqi were responsible for "serious human rights
