Egypt Not Expected To Stop Hamas Weapons Flow
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel has concluded that Egypt would not halt
the flow of weapons to the Gaza Strip.
Intelligence sources and consultants to the military have determined
that the regime of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak would be unable or
unwilling to block the flow of weapons to the Hamas regime. They said
official corruption and bribery would facilitate weapons smuggling despite
efforts by the United States and the European Union.
"No agreement or decision that includes a component of ending arms
smuggling will be implemented, even if the Egyptian regime wants it to
happen," Israeli analyst Mordechai Kedar, regarded as a leading expert on
the Islamic world, said.
