Jordan Said Under 'Intense Pressure'
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Jordan has come under intense pressure, squeezed by the
Palestinian majority as well as Hashemite tribes, a leading U.S. analyst
said.
Robert Satloff, executive director of the Washington Institute for Near
East Policy, asserted that Jordan's King Abdullah faced an unprecedented
crisis. Satloff, who recently toured Jordan and met much of the
regime leadership as well as the Muslim Brotherhood-aligned opposition,
cited the ascent of a Hamas faction not regarded as loyal to the kingdom.
