Hizbullah Wary Of Future In Lebanon
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Hizbullah has become increasingly alarmed by the
prospect of a Sunni takeover in Syria, which could isolate the Shi'ite force
in Lebanon and throughout the region.
Officials and analysts assert that Hizbullah was seeking to lower its
profile as a group sponsored and directed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary
Guard Corps. They said elements within the Hizbullah leadership were quietly
advocating a more independent policy that could survive a Sunni rebel
victory in Syria.
