Russia Upgrades Algerian Navy

MOSCOW [MENL] -- Russia has been awarded a project to modernize platforms
for the Algerian Navy.
Russia's Severnaya Verf shipyard has signed a contract to upgrade two
surface vessels for the Algerian Navy. Severnaya, based in St. Petersburg,
said it would enhance Algeria's Nanuchka Mk-2 corvette as well as the Koni-2
frigate, both produced by Moscow and delivered to the North African state in
the mid-1980s.
