Russia Plans Navy Presence Off Syria

MOSCOW [MENL] -- Russia has decided to establish a permanent naval presence
off the coast of Syria.
Officials said the Russian Defense Ministry has been ordered to maintain
an indefinite naval presence in Syrian waters. They said at least one
Russian Navy warship would patrol Syria as well as the surrounding eastern
Mediterranean throughout 2012.
