Bahraini Appeals Spy Conviction
ABU DHABI [MENL] -- A Bahraini man has appealed his conviction of espionage
against the U.S. Navy.
The 47-year-old defendant, who was not named, has sought to overturn his
conviction on charges of relaying to Iran classified information on
Bahrain's military, Interior Ministry and the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet.
Prosecutors said the man, sentenced to 10 years, was directed by Iran's
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and received more than 27,000 Bahraini
dinars, or $7,350.
