Turkish Mil. Ordered To Stop Israel In E. Med
ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey's military has been ordered to stop Israeli
operations around Cyprus.
Western diplomats said the government of Prime Minister Recep Erdogan
has ordered the General Staff to prevent any incursions of Israel Air Force
or Navy platforms around Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean. They said
Erdogan issued the order in late April to demonstrate Turkey's intention to
stop offshore energy exploration by Israel or the Republic of Cyprus in
areas claimed by Ankara.
