Congress Questions UN Refugee Data

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The administration of President Barack Obama has been
concerned over legislation by Congress to examine the Palestinian refugee
community.
The administration has opposed an amendment passed by the Senate
Appropriations Committee to issue a report within a year on the number of
Palestinians who receive aid from the United Nations Relief and Works
Agency. The amendment, passed on May 24 by a 29-1 vote as part of the 2013
State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations bill, would
require the administration to determine how many of the recipients descended
from residents of the British mandate of Palestine from 1946 to 1948.
