Sinai Bedouins Reject State Cooption

CAIRO [MENL] -- Young Bedouins in the Sinai Peninsula rejected intervention
by Egypt's security forces.
Bedouin sources said many members of the 30 tribes in Sinai sought to
end government intervention in their affairs. They said the young guard has
been lobbying for elections of tribal leaders rather than their approval or
appointment by the Cairo regime.
