Qatar, Germany To Expand Naval Ties

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Germany and Qatar have agreed to expand naval
cooperation.
Officials said the two navies have been meeting and were discussing
joint exercises and training over the next year. The German Navy maintains a
presence in the Gulf and Horn of Africa.
"There are lots of ways we could cooperate," German Navy Cmdr. Michael
Giss said.
Giss, captain of the FGS Emden, ended a three-day official visit that
focused on naval cooperation with Qatar. He said Germany could cooperate
with and enhance the Qatar Navy.
