Syria, U.S. Ready For Military Cooperation
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Syria and the United States have agreed to launch
military and security cooperation.
Officials said the regime of President Bashar Assad has approved a U.S.
proposal to help bolster Syria's border with Iraq. They said the U.S. effort
would begin with the arrival of an American military delegation to Syria by
July 2009 to inspect the Iraqi border.
"We are ready to help them if they are ready to help us," an official
said. "They say they can't secure the entire border, so we said we'll help."
