Syria Refuses To Cooperate On Nuke Site
LONDON [MENL] -- The International Atomic Energy Agency has asserted that
Syria was refusing to provide sufficient information on a suspected nuclear
The agency, in a June 5 report titled "Implementation of the NPT
Safeguards Agreement in the Syrian Arab Republic," said Syria was not
cooperating with IAEA's effort to inspect the Dir Al Zour site, also known
as Al Kibar, near the border with Turkey. The nuclear site was destroyed in
an Israel Air Force strike in September 2007.
"The agency has continued to investigate the allegations concerning the
destroyed building on the Dir Al Zour site," the report said. "The
information provided by Syria to date does not enable the agency to
determine the nature of the facility."
