LONDON [MENL] -- An Israeli-origin unmanned aerial vehicle has concluded
inaugural flights for a leading program of the British Army.
The Watchkeeper UAV, produced by Elbit Systems in a project led by
Thales UK, completed what was termed a key set of inaugural flights in June
2009. Watchkeeper, a variant of Elbit's Hermes-480, was deemed
successful and would progress to a series of ground system and flight trials
in Britain. The UAV system, which underwent its first flight in April 2008,
was scheduled to become operational in late 2010.
