Mubarak Sees Rival In Intel Chief

LONDON [MENL] -- President Hosni Mubarak has deemed his intelligence chief a
rival in Egypt's succession struggle.
Arab diplomatic sources said Mubarak has been dismayed by the increasing
popularity of his intelligence chief, Gen. Omar Suleiman. They said private
polls taken in Egypt show Suleiman to be the leading candidate to succeed
the 81-year-old Mubarak, said to be ailing and increasingly withdrawn.
